Education: Bowdoin College (A.B., 1958); Washington & Lee University and New York University (J.D., 1961), Honors — Phi Delta Phi. Mr. Peirez has lectured and written on a variety of topics concerning Federal and State environmental law and hazardous waste litigation. He was a featured speaker at a special seminar with J&H Marsh & McClellan for leading businesses on Long Island, “Managing the Environmental Cleanup,” and before the NYS Society of CPAs, on Tax Aspects of Groundwater Treatment Facilities. He formed the Firm’s new Electronic Commerce unit, lectured on Y2K, and has had articles published concerning Internet and legal issues.

Member of the Nassau County Interim Finance Authority, 2000-2004. Board Member and Vice Chairman, New York State Job Development Authority, 1983-1996. Member, National Panel of Arbitrators, American Arbitration Association. Member, Nassau County and Federal Bar Associations; The Florida Bar; The Association of Trial Lawyers of America; Federal Bar Council.

Mr. Peirez was Chairman and CEO of a medium-sized listed company for five years, and has served on the boards of several public and private companies. He is very active in the New York Area community, and he served as Chairman of the Board of The Long Island Philharmonic, 1997-2002. The Long Island Business News has named Mr. Peirez for three consecutive years in its "Top 25" list of Long Island attorneys.

Since March of 2007,  Mr. Peirez has served as Chairman of the New York State Comptroller’s Real Estate Advisory Committee for the New York State Common Retirement Fund.  It is the nation’s third largest pension fund and has nearly $160 billion in assets, and over $9 billion allocated to the real estate investments which Mr. Peirez’ committee oversees.
