New York Times, March 16, &2006; Washington Post, March 16, 2006; E. Christopher Murray was interviewed concerning the FCC’s efforts to crack down on perceived objectionable television content. Mr. Murray explained the rules are not clear, and the FCC’s conduct is likely to cause self-censorship by the television networks. Mr. Murray pointed out that the FCC’s actions caused a number of affiliates to refuse to show the movie Saving Private Ryan because of language used by the characters.
